The Perils of High-Heeled Shoes...

Last week on my way to work, I saw a fasionable woman wearing a pair of high-heeled, chunky platform shoes walking on an island between two roads.  She was obviously taking her son to an event.

As I passed by, I suddenly saw her body jerk violently to one side as if someone had yanked her on one side. She righted herself quickly and carried on walking across the road.  But not long after, as she put her foot forward again, she lost 8 inches of her height from one side of her body.

I looked down and saw that one of the platform heels of her "added height" was lying in the middle of the road - lonely without the top part of the shoe.  The woman carried on walking as the momentum kept her going.  But she quickly realised that her "sole-mate" was missing and had to retrieve it with some embarrassment.  She made a funny picture, standing there with one on and foot on tiptoes to maintain equilibrium.  I, of course, being a bad person, could not stop the grin from spreading from ear to ear.

I know it is bad of me to laugh at someone's misfortune but the incident was quite funny and I couldn't help myself.  Things of this nature have always tickled my funny bone.  But this has got me thinking about people's funny bones.  Do we all have the same funny bones? or are things only funny if they happen to someone else and not you?  To be fair, I would laugh at myself if it happened to me but saying that I would no doubt curse my shoe like hell for tripping me up like that!
