How to make a silver bauble necklace

Crochet a Silver Bauble Necklace

A silver necklace with baubles which adds a touch of class to that little black dress in your wardrobe.  Or team it with a crisp white T-shirt and jeans for a fun summer look!

This necklace is simple to make and takes an hour or two to complete.  All you need is a crochet hook, some silver metallic yarn, some stuffing, a sewing needle and knowledge of how to do the simple chain stitch and single crochet (US) / double crochet (UK). That’s all there is to it! Try making the necklace with rainbow-coloured yarns for a contemporary funky look.  Hope you have fun making this!

Materials:
·        1 ball acrylic metallic yarn (25gm)
·        Stuffing / weighted beads
·        Embroidery needle for sewing
·        Ballpoint pen
·        4mm crochet hook

 Level of Difficulty: easy

Duration: 1 to 2 hours to complete

Things you need:

Abbreviations
ch = chain stitch
sc = single crochet (US) / double crochet (UK)
st = stitch / sts = stitches

Method

Using a 4mm crochet hook, ch 2

Insert your crochet hook into the first ch stitch and * sc into that stitch 7 times to form a circle chain.
(You will be crocheting in rounds)

 Increase Row
Miss one ch and insert your crochet hook into the 2nd ch and sc twice into each of the next 6 chs.
(Counting at the top of your bauble, there should now be 12 ch sts)

Work 3 rounds of sc on these 12 ch sts.
(You should complete 36 scs altogether)

Decrease Row
Miss 1 ch, sc into next ch.  Repeat 5 times.
(Counting at the top of your bauble, there should be 6 ch sts remaining)

Stuffing the Bauble
Using a ballpoint pen, push some stuffing inside the bauble to your desired fullness.
Finishing the Bauble
Keeping the stuffing inside the bauble, Miss 1 ch, sc into the next ch.
Repeat 3 to 4 times until the top of the bauble is completed.
(You may prefer instead to insert a small weighted bead inside the bauble
to give some ‘heaviness’ to the necklace.  This makes it hang better.)

Make 13 ch sts.
Insert your hook into the 2nd ch st from your hook and repeat from *.
Continue making baubles at 12 ch intervals until the desired length.
(End the necklace after you have crocheted 13 ch sts)

Using a needle, secure the first bauble to the end of the last 13 ch sts.  Cut off any loose ends.
Pull the necklace a few times to straighten the chain stitches.

And Voila! You have a great necklace to go with your little black dress!  Happy crocheting!
